Staff in EVE New Horizon from 1st July 2015, will be implementing a Tobacco Free Campus, in line with the national HSE policy. We are committed to promoting the health of the participants and staff in our location. Smoking is one of the leading causes of death and illness and we have an obligation to everyone to address this critical public health issue. This will initially apply to the staff and external contractors of New Horizon but will be gradually implemented over a period of time for all participants. This policy covers all areas of EVE New Horizon the building, entrances, doorways, car park etc.
New Horizon will offer full support to participants who smoke and help them manage their addiction while attending our service. It is our intention to address their individual needs through the Person-Centred Planning process. We will help make the transition to a tobacco free campus easier by providing information to potential participants about our tobacco free policy prior to joining the service. We have links with the local Health Promotion Unit and can support you to link in with smoking cessation support during your time in the service. Upon leaving the service, participants can avail of continued support from the HSE’s cessation services, their local GP or Pharmacist.
Stopping smoking is the single most important thing a person can do to improve their health!
