ARI Conference

The Advancing Recovery in Ireland project recently held a conference in Dublin, which New Horizon were lucky enough to get places on, so 1 staff member and 5 participants went along.

It was really interesting, very informative and we all took away some ideas. Our favorite, I think was the introduction of the acronym CHIME—this is a framework that is used to ensure your service is recovery orientated.  CHIME stands for Connectivity, Hope, Identity, Meaning /purpose and Empowerment.

We heard how different countries around the world use various statements to explain a person’s recovery journey, and we particularly liked the Dutch explanation which states, “Personal  recovery is  a gradual transition in identity from patient  orientated to a citizenship.” We found this statement quite empowering.
